Alex Ford is a full time writer, editor, lodge manager, and fishing guide based in the New York City area. He has traveled all over the world to write and fish for various publications, brands, and causes.

After four years of fishing Penns Creek in college, he drove around the country for two months and ultimately ended up in Cuba. Six weeks and a few bonefish later, he came back to the US and started working for Amberjack Outfitters as the blog editor, copywriter, and social media manager.

Since joining Amberjack, Alex has traveled all over the world to write and fish and is now in a continuous cycle of bankrupting himself to swing flies for steelhead in British Columbia. Most of his work appears online in the Amberjack Journal, but he has also written for the Wall Street Journal and the Fly Fish Journal

Currently, Alex is helping a number of brands establish and maintain their digital footprint through targeted techniques. He focuses largely on building grassroots campaigns and achieving a consistent rate of growth at minimum cost. This is achieved by tapping into an existing network of connections and ambassadors in the outdoor industry, as well doubling down on some good old fashioned marketing objectives. His work with these brands is explored further on the Clients page of this website.

Alex is also working as lodge manager for The Lodge at River Valley, located on the Musconetcong River in Asbury, NJ. He redesigned their website and social media and now manages the acquisition of new members. He guides for trout here a few days a week.

Before Amberjack, Alex co-founded the Instagram account @flylords, which now has the largest social media presence of any fly fishing page in the world. He continues to collaborate with Fly Lords on various projects.
